Major Site Preparation

Fast, Safe, Efficient Land Clearing

Few infrastructure companies can match the quality and scale of our major site preparation services.

Land clearing for construction is one of our specialties, but is typically only a small portion of the construction preparation process. We have the right equipment, the right team, and capabilities to turnkey build all of your site preparation construction needs.

Our site preparation capabilities are established on solid foundations of heavy and civil engineering construction experience that includes:

Engineering Oversite GC

Engineering Over Site-GC and Construction Survey

WT Byler Co. revolutionized the way dirt is moved with new technology. Today we utilize horizontal and vertical control solutions that provide greater accuracy, higher productivity, lower operating costs and increased efficiency.

These systems are so accurate in fact, that in many cases they are required in project specifications.

With information provided by our in-house engineers, our field personnel utilize high technology earthmoving tools for cut and fill. Using our advanced GPS, robotics, lasers, machine-mounted components and off-board transmitters, these state-of-the-art machine control systems provide precise information with 3-d imaging on an in-cab display and achieve accurate automatic hydraulic blade positioning. As a result, our operators improve their efficiency and get to grade faster.

We work with many engineering groups and aid them in the design of important projects.

Site Clearing & Grubbing

Site Clearing & Grubbing

Site Clearing & Grubbing

Site Clearing & Grubbing

Our process involves more than a bulldozer clearing land. Our land clearing process involves the grubbing and removal of trees, snags, logs, brush, stumps, shrubs and rubbish from designated areas.

Our team will use your site clearing and grubbing specification to make way for the footprint of structures and transportation corridors. We can also prepare a clearing and grubbing scope of work before the project gets underway. Generally, our clearing and grubbing services consist of disposing:

  • Trees
  • Snags
  • Logs
  • Brush
  • Stumps
  • Shrubs
  • Rubbish

TREE GRUBBING
Grubbing trees is an involved process that sets the stage for major construction projects. All trees not marked for preservation will be grubbed along with all snags, logs, brush, stumps, shrubs, rubbish and similar materials within the limits of the designated areas.

STUMP GRUBBING
Unless otherwise specified, all stump grubbing of stumps, roots and root clusters that have a diameter of 1 inch or larger shall be grubbed out to a depth of at least 2 feet below sub-grade for concrete structures and 1 foot below the ground surface at embankment sites and other designated areas.

All materials set for clearing and grubbing are generally disposed of at generally agreed upon locations shown on engineered drawings. Our clear and grub process is also governed by local laws.

Ground Improvement Earth Surcharge with Pre-fabricated Vertical Drains (PVD)

Ground Improvement Earth Surcharge with Pre-fabricated Vertical Drains (PVD)

Ground Improvement Earth Surcharge with Pre-fabricated Vertical Drains (PVD)

Ground Improvement Earth Surcharge With Pre-Fabricated Vertical Drains (PVD)

Ground improvement earth fill surcharge is a common method for improving soft soil by reducing the water content of the soil through consolidation.

This is achieved by increasing the total stress (engineered preloading of materials) and reducing the pore-water pressure.

The sole purpose of vertical drain system (PVD) is to shorten the drainage path of the pore water from a low permeable layer to free water surface or to a pre-installed drainage layer (sand), thereby accelerating the rate of primary consolidation or the process of settlement. Application of ground improvement method using prefabricated vertical drains (PVD) coupled with surcharge shortens the period of primary settlement.

PVD is a prefabricated material consisting of a plastic core covered by a synthetic geotextile filter jacket. The core serves as a longitudinal flow path along the drain. The filter jacket allows water to pass into the core while restricting intrusion of soil particles. The process is monitored by soils engineers till completion.

Clearing land is much quicker when you work with WT Byler Co. Let the professionals at our company expedite your project with cuts and fills that are placed to line and grade, meeting your soils engineering specification.

WT Byler Co personnel are prepared to perform for most any Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction project including industrial-petrochemical, commercial, government and railroad. Let the professionals at our company expedite your project with cuts and fills, placed to line and grade, meeting your soils engineering specification.

Technically, mass excavation and embankment is considered one of the most difficult topics for construction engineering materials. Soil, when excavated, can be made up of clay or sandy material (as an example) with air and water content trapped between the particles of soils. However, understanding the different states and/or other engineering construction materials can be tricky because air and water can add to the volume, and different materials have different weights. For instance, when soil is excavated, that state adds air volume; which, sometimes excavated materials can be referred to as truck yards. When soil is compacted, air volume is subtracted; that state of which, can be referred to as banked or sometimes "in-situ." The latter, typically, is our preferred method to deal with earth materials. To understand more regarding different construction engineering materials and/or the different states, please contact us.

UG Piping Systems Installation

Our experts are able to identify and validate soils for shoring, sloping or benching during UG piping system installation.

WT Byler Co is your solution for underground piping systems installation and has a safety history that says we understand the hazards associated with excavation work. Our people are able to identify and validate soils for shoring, sloping or benching. We recognize the potential for hazardous atmospheres lurking inside of trenches. We locate and work safely around underground utilities and execute a project effectively, producing a product that meets or exceeds specifications.

Examples of our work includes installation of 22 miles of 12" perforated HDPE pipe for a U.S. defense facility. On one petrochemical project, we installed 72,129 LF of corrugated HDPE pipe, 514 LF of reinforced concrete pipe, 93 LF of corrugated metal pipe, 410 LF of 4' x 2' E-80 box culverts and 186 each of inverted "T" structure inlets. We install weld HDPE piping including fire water suppression systems.

Soil Stabilization & Reclaiming

Soil Stabilization & Reclaiming

Soil Stabilization & Reclaiming

Soil Stabilization & Reclaiming

Soil stabilization is a necessary part of constructing most road surfaces and parking lots. We can chemically treat the sub-grade and reclaim your existing HMAC road or parking lot surface for repairs.

We can reclaim your existing HMAC (hot mix asphaltic concrete) road or parking-lot surface for repairs. It is always more environmentally sensitive than exporting contaminated spoils off site and in most cases all asphalt can be reclaimed in place. Cement or lime, depending on soil types, may be used to bridge most sub-soil conditions.

When properly cured, we could then place a new HMAC or JRCP (joint reinforced concrete paving) surface. This revitalizing technique is economically feasible and pleases any budget.
