Mr. Bill Byler
Owner | CEO – Bachelor’s Degree from Sam Houston State University. Decades of experience in design, field engineering, project management and estimating relating to heavy and civil engineering construction including industrial-petrochemical, Corps of Engineers, TxDot, FHWA, railroad, and commercial projects.
Mr. Byler directs the overall activities of the company and senior management team ensuring operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and company procedures are followed.
He routinely communicates the company’s safety mission ensuring employees take action. He works with the staff ensuring training needs are met for company. He is involved with record keeping as it pertains to accidents, injuries, illnesses and incidents ensuring proper procedures are put in place and followed.
Mr. Jason Ford
President – Mr. Ford directs the overall activities of the company and senior management team ensuring operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and company procedures are followed. He routinely communicates the company’s safety mission ensuring employees take action. He works with the staff ensuring training needs are met for company. He is involved with record keeping as it pertains to accidents, injuries, illnesses, and incidents ensuring proper procedures are put in place and followed.
Mr. Ford has decades of experience in estimating and project management and has executed numerous multimillion-dollar projects and implements continuous improvement strategies for management and construction processes such as planning, estimating, contracting and material management. He assures that client expectations are met by reviewing design documents and verifying complete and accurate scopes.
His expertise at overseeing simultaneous operations and optimizing the sharing of available resources across multiple projects delivers value to WT Byler Co and our clients.
Mr. Rick Johnson
Vice President-Construction Operations – Decades of experience in operations related to heavy and civil engineering construction including industrial-petrochemical, municipal, commercial, retail and railroad.
Mr. Johnson is an expert in all aspects of the heavy and civil engineering construction business including earthwork, under-ground piping systems installation, soil stabilization, placement of base, asphalt paving and concrete construction. He analyzes productivity, moves and directs people to assure work is completed in the most productive manner, and at the highest quality standards for the customer.
He interfaces with project management ensuring all projects are appropriately scheduled and managed. He oversees the equipment operations including all equipment maintenance and equipment transport.
He leads his force of dozens of project superintendents, frontline supervisors and subordinates.
Mr. Thomas Schoppe
Vice President of Railroad Construction – Twenty plus years of experience in railroad and heavy civil construction operations including large rail classification and storage in transit (SIT) yard projects. His expertise in the heavy rail industry includes material management, demolition, field engineering, subcontractor coordination, site supervision and general construction management. His proficiency at workforce productivity analysis and associated resource allocation facilitates project completion that is on schedule, on budget and the highest quality standard for our customers.
Mr. Schoppe schedules and manages multiple railroad construction crews that perform new track construction and track maintenance, throughout the Texas and Louisiana gulf coast while maintaining safety, quality and exceeding client expectations.
He directs all personnel and activities for all new railroad construction projects for the company.
Mr. Steve Smith
Vice President - Treasurer / CFO – Bachelor and Master’s Degree from the University of Texas – Austin. Certified Public Accountant with over sixteen year in senior positions over accounting, finance, IT, HR and general business.
Mr. Smith has long history as a Controller at companies such as General Electric, URS and Dell.
He oversees all financial activities for the company including preparation of current financial reports, monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial summaries, forecast for future business growth as well as general economic outlook and management of all cash related activities including capital.
Safety and Risk
Mr. Geoff Pospisil
Director of Safety and Risk Manager – Safety professional with decades of experience related to heavy and civil engineering construction, assessing safety and risk; which, often can be sensitive, political, or even legal in nature. He ensures personnel meet all legal expectations and actively support occupational health and safety procedures on the jobsites. He is the point of contact for all safety / incident communication within the company.
Mr. Pospisil manages a comprehensive risk management and loss control program, implements risk management and mitigation techniques, monitors the effectiveness of the techniques implemented; directs and oversees the development of new programs to improve workplace safety and reduce exposures to the company. He directs the investigation of accidents and injuries and manages risk for all cases and ensuring success for a positive outcome for claims.
Business Development and Marketing
Mr. Mike Fasci
Director of Business Development and Marketing – Mr. Fasci is a distinguished professional who graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of St. Thomas, where he excelled both academically and athletically as a collegiate golfer. With a wealth of experience in client relations on a global scale, Mr. Fasci has held key positions such as, Advisory Board Vice President of Client Relations for a top tier financial firm in Houston, Texas, and Client Success Analyst for a global health & wellness corporation based out of Brazil.
His expertise extends beyond client relations and business development to include successful ventures in the construction industry, particularly in estimating and project management for petrochemical, commercial, marine, and railroad projects. Mr. Fasci serves on various committees including, Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), and The University of St. Thomas -- further demonstrating his dedication to professional development and excellence in his field. Currently serving as the Director of Business Development for W.T. Byler, Mr. Fasci is driven by his unwavering commitment to client satisfaction and excellence in service delivery.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
Mr. Mike Abshire
Quality Assurance / Quality Control Manager - Mr. Abshire applies over 40 years of experience in comprehensive construction materials testing and quality control / quality assurance. His knowledge includes all levels of basic and advanced field and laboratory testing procedures, supervision of complex project testing and CMET training of technicians.
Mr. Abshire’s testing experience includes materials sampling, in-place density testing, pier inspections, soil stabilization procedures and laboratory testing of construction materials as they relate to our industry. He is experienced with concrete testing including plant monitoring, field testing including material thickness and sampling.
He reports directly to the WT Byler Co VP of Construction Operations. He is responsible for quality oversight on all projects. His knowledge of the materials testing industry works well for review and monitoring independent laboratories testing activities and reporting.
Heavy Civil Construction Division
Mr. Jim Jackson, P.E.
Project Executive – Mr. Jackson graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1991, obtained his Louisiana Professional Engineering License in 1996 and Texas Professional Engineering License in 1998. Jim has over twenty-seven years of experience and specializes in design-build projects for large transportation and industrial rail car storage facilities, container facilities, distribution centers and highway construction projects.
His past experience includes ten years in engineering for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Mr. Jackson has a unique aptitude for evaluating a project from the client’s perspective and developing construction processes that align with our client’s objectives and expectations, resulting in superior safety, quality, schedule and cost project delivery.
Railroad Division
Mr. Steven Ehler
Railroad Division Maintenance Manager, Corporate – Mr. Ehler applies over twenty-years of logistics experience managing maintenance employees including rail gangs that replace rail and spikes, tie gangs that perform scheduled crosstie replacement; bridge and building gangs, that maintain and repair bridges, trestles and right-of-ways, along the railroads, to include Emergency Derailment Services.
Mr. Ehler is an expert in track dynamics, maintenance-of-way operations and turnkey railroad construction. He has extensive experience working at all organization levels creating, promoting and delivering company services. His roll includes planning day-to-day operations, logistics of material and equipment, team scheduling, budgeting and building special projects.
He reports directly to the WT Byler Co VP of Construction Operations. Steven has oversight for all maintenance-of-way projects and employees including multiple supervisors and over fifty personnel that may include San Antonio Regional Operations personnel.
Mr. Bubba Campbell
