Who We Are
Environmentally Responsible – We build projects that sustain quality of life, done with clean-fuel energy efficient machines that utilize SCR technology to comply with the latest EPA emissions standards to reduce our carbon footprint.
Founded in 1973, we specialize in major site-work including site clearing and grubbing, ground improvement earth surcharge, mass excavation and embankment, below-grade piping installation, in-situ and pulvi-mixing soil stabilization; and construction of site structures including foundation bathtub, building-pads, impoundment, site-work-related concrete, paving infrastructure, heavy haul-roads, laydown yard, brine pond and dredge material placement areas (DMPA).
Byler performs site-work and railroad construction for massive railroad projects; including a 10,000-car multi-phased storage in transit yard (SIT) that was the largest privately-owned facility of its kind in the United States. We have completed a variety of turnkey-projects for hundreds of miles of railroads including Class-I mainline, storage in transit (SIT), transloads, sidings, spurs and wye-tracks; constructed in a variety of soil and environmental conditions. We perform Class-1 maintenance-of-way, emergency and derailment services.
Over the years, we have partnered on projects with many well-known and respected public and private owners to help them achieve their project objectives. Our extensive profile of services has been applied across multiple industries, including railroads, grass-roots refineries, power plant & petroleum storage facilities, educational institutes, major retail shopping facilities, professional sports arenas, manufacturing facilities and logistics distribution centers.

Founded in 1973, WT "Troy" Byler (pictured right) established WT Byler Co after having worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in their engineering department. From humble beginnings, the original forces included a backhoe, tractor-mower and four field personnel. Mr. Byler built our company with inherent values centered around people with commitment to building the job right the first time.
Today, still family owned and operated, WT "Bill" Byler leads us into new and exciting areas of growth with a firm commitment to the original core values. The company has grown to forces that include hundreds of units of construction equipment and transport trucks, employs hundreds of personnel, works millions of work-hours and produces revenues of hundreds of millions annually.
Equipped to Handle Large-Scale, Heavy Construction Projects
WT Byler Co. has proven itself to be an invaluable partner on thousands of infrastructure construction and railroad projects. We have the technology, equipment and civil constructors to handle projects of all sizes.
Our team works hard to produce the best possible product at the best value and maintain a reputation of bringing our projects in ahead of schedule, partnering with Owners early, so when we build, they can generate revenue with their new facility, timely.
Houston is our home office from which projects are staffed and controlled.
Dispatch of Resources
Fast Delivery for Large-Scale Projects, Emergencies and Disaster Restoration Services
WT Byler Co delivers a quality project built with best-industry practices - on time, every time. Owning our own fleet of hundreds of units of equipment means our experienced operators can be at your site on short notice.
DOZENS OF MACHINES DISPATCHED IN A DAY
Dispatch of resources is a major part of project delivery and critical for emergency construction services. Few companies in our industry can say they have transported 70 pieces of heavy-machinery in one day. We’ve even dispatched 80 machines and 90 craft workers within two weeks on a single project.
THE TEAM TO CALL FOR A CONSTRUCTION EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN
We are the company to call for emergency response and derailment service. Within 24 hours of Hurricane Ike, we were the first responder to Galveston Island, removing debris from railroad right-of-ways. Our team can also help create an emergency plan for construction site personnel if needed.
RELIABLE DISASTER AND EMERGENCY RESTORATION SERVICES THROUGHOUT TEXAS AND THE SURROUNDING STATES
Our far-reaching operations extend throughout Texas and the Southwest Louisiana region.
Whether you need equipment for a large-scale project, an emergency plan for a construction site or help recovering after a disaster, WT Byler Co has the heavy machinery and expertise to get the job done.
